Why Congressmen Needs To Advise Constituents Regarding Syria

Congressman Ruiz constantly reminds us that he is a physician. Well, he is. However, he seems to forget first and foremost he is a Congressman. Now when he doesn't make a diagnosis he effects not just the members of one family he effects thousands and possibly millions of people. In this story and the accompanying video Dr Ruiz or is it Congressman Ruiz knows the diagnosis. Yet, when asked about the treatment he is still unclear on what he might do. At this point if I were his patient I would ask for a new Doctor. Ruiz begins his comments by drawing analogies. My favorite amongst them is Afghanistan. This tells me that the doctor needs a history course on why we went into Afghanistan. I am not debating whether we could have left earlier. I am only saying our move into Afghanistan was for completely different reasons. Dr Ruiz, we went into Afghanistan because we were attacked by people that were trained in that country. Dr. Ruiz, how could you forget one day after a memorial for all those people we lost on September 11, 2001. I am not addressing here whether we should have gotten out sooner I am only addressing a comparison the Dr. makes that doesn't relate to any of today's reality. Diplomacy is wonderful when it works. However, weren't we negotiating with Japan when they bombed Pearl Harbor. History has shown us we knew it was coming. However, the American people didn't want to go to war. Then we were attacked as we were on 9-11 and the American people rallied to get even. This raises issues. When should a leader with supposedly more information than the general population do what is right rather than what is politically expedient. I am not saying that we should or shouldn't attack at this point. More importantly I am calling upon the Congressman to tell us at least which way he is leaning if negotiations fail. To say things change daily on this is true. But the facts go beyond just gas. They go to a fact of a government killing over a 100,000 of its own people. It is a fact that the Dr. fails to discuss. He doesn't discuss the feelings he has for other allies in the area that could fall victim to attacks themselves. Lets start the list with Turkey, Jordan and Israel. Sometimes the elements that go into making a decision are as important as the decision itself. Do we have a right to know? We do not need to know the when, where or how of an attack. We do have a right to know our Congressman's thought process and leanings if negotiations fail. The question here is one of whether the doctor is willing to give us the diagnosis and the options for our treatment. One question I keep asking myself is why the Congressman has not shared his leanings? Here is one possible observation that may have great credibility when one does not share his thoughts. Is the Dr. waiting to see how everyone else is going to vote? Then he will take the popular side and not necessarily the right or wrong side in making his decision. Let me make it clearer. Is Ruiz waiting to make his decision so he can be on the winning side of a vote if taken? For those of you who say one lone Freshman cannot make a difference: I suggest that you look at history and some of the votes that have been decided by one vote. One vote can show how courageous a person is. One vote is what our Congress is about. One vote does make a difference. So like the congressman that ran a get out to vote campaign to get elected, I suggest your vote does count. How can we continue to support a Congressman that finds a plethora of excuses not to tell us his thoughts on such an important issue. He may never have to vote on this issue but I will never vote for him if he cannot make a decision when the chips are down. If he is telling us he has no leanings at this time, I have to say give me a break.

IS CALIFORNIA GOING TO FAR IN ITS ENVIROMENTAL HUNT FOR CHROMIUM 6 IN OUR WATER

In Hinkley the Chromium 6 levels were as high as 580 parts per billion. This level had to do with dumping not natural environmental issues. The wells in our valley have according to this study very in maximum to 25 parts per billion. The current state standard suggests 50 parts per billion for both chromium 3 and 6. The national standard for the two is 100. Chromium 3 is an essential part of the bodies metabolism which fights the effects of Carbs and Fats. Chromium 6 is also in our air since it is also a naturally mineral. So if the standards are tightened are we also going to have gas masks issued. It seems to me and I am a cautious person that we would have a high degree of cancer clusters here in the valley that could be traced back to chromium 6 levels. However, I cannot find any such cancer cluster maps exhibiting the same. Riverside has a lower cancer rate per 100k than the state of California. Of course I could have done poor research so I suggest you do your own. For those that want a low level of chromium 6 you can purchase a reverse osmosis system to treat your own drinking water for under 200 dollars. Or you can call a plumber and have him install it for you. This is much cheaper than what you may be paying to have the government treat your water.

The Russians Helped Create Al Quida and the Leadership of Osama Bin Laden

The lack of action is an action. That is the thing that so many leaders forget. When we say we are going to do something and we don't we loose credibility. In the Middle East we are dealing with people that look for signs of weakness. If we are weak when we said we would be strong it is worse than being weak when we say nothing. Don't be fooled Iran is the puppet master here. They are arming Syria and Hezbollah. We shouldn't forget that the Russian's also an ally are here to talk with Congress. I wonder are they registering as lobbyists? They have sent this delegation because they say that they have more experience dealing with Muslim Extremists. Yes, they do we have seen their human rights policies regarding Jews, Muslims and Homosexuals. Russia has lots of experience in the Middle East their 10 year war in Afghanistan was fought poorly just as their fight it World War II. Why are we allowing anti human rights leaders to speak with our leaders. If anything we should call them out for their human rights violations.

Do Your Own Homework Regarding The Syrian Timeline

In reading all the diatribe that was written before this comment a came to some unfortunate but expected conclusions. First of all this is split totally on a political likes and dislikes most often having nothing to do with the issue presented in the article. Few including the Desert Sun has addressed the timeline of events. No one has addressed the issue that the Red Line drawn by Obama was drawn in August 2012 not 2013. Congress has had an incredible amount time to study the issue but failed to do so. As for my poli tical views on this matter I will address them more specifically latter. However, I urge people to go beyond what the media has given us. Look at the time line. Look at the facts. Look at the International Law involved. Look at the 1973 (50 U.S.C. 1541-1548). Do your own homework. Ask yourself: If was living in Syria what would I want the world governments to do? You may also want to go beyond the geopolitical into the ethical implications of the decision to act or not act. Put your political blinders on and look at what you would do if you were the one making the decision.

Fast Food Worker's Do Not Deserve The $15 An Hour They Are Picketing For

Thirty one thousand two hundred dollars ($31,200). Remember that number. $42,693 dollars a year is the average per capita income in the United States. That is the average wage of all people from the lowest to the highest earner in the country. $36,201 is the average starting pay in the United States for a teacher with a no less than a Bachelors degree. . I am sorry this would be an insult to teachers and many others that have worked in a skilled job. $18,057 average salary of a E2 Private in the United States Army. So remember that number $31.200 that is how much a year the people in fast food restaurants want you to support for them in wages.

The Complete MLK: I Have A Dream

Part of College Is Learning About Responseability: So Why Forgive Student Loans

I had a student loan and paid it back. Why is it students should not have to pay back their loans. At minimum they could do public service as partial payment. Students in college during my day had to take at least twelve units a semester to have a draft deferral. This means that you would graduate in no more than 5 years. I worked full time and went to law school fool time. I worked full time and went to graduate school full time. I had to pay my way. I received some help from employers but not on a regular basis. I worked constantly during my bachelors degree also. I paid my student loan off in a timely manner. Students don't have to go to private schools or diploma mills to get a degree that is exorbitant in costs. No one has to go away to school. I also worked part and full time through my first four years of college. Not every person needs to go to college. Trade schools are important. Many trades can pay more to a person than one whom goes to college and gets a four year degree. We have dropped these programs out of our middle schools and high schools. So as time goes by who is going to fix our cars and air conditioning? Yes, many colleges are outrageous in costs. It is deplorable that we give scholarships to illegal immigrants when our citizens have to pay more. That is how does someone here illegally go to a government sponsored school and receive residence rates?

When Terrorism Threatens The World

It is truly hard to see the suffering of those that were harmed during the gas attack in Syria.  The problem is that neither the Assad regime nor the rebels are made of outstanding human rights oriented organizations.  A major player in this war seems to be Al Queda.  However, Assad's regime seems to be composed of people with no respect for humanity as we as American's see it.  Even more distressing is Assad's ties to the government of Iran.  What we do we must do well in order to create a show of strength that protects us against Al Quida which has attacked us in our country.  We must also consider the effects of our actions on Israel.  It is days like this that I wish we still had our battleships.  Granted missile armed destroyers can deliver an incredible barrage.  On the other hand looking at the size and fire power of a battleship has its own intimidation profile.  We have no good choices.  However, this is real we are seeing it.  We have heard this sabre rattling of Syria and Iran in regards to Israel.  Maybe it is time for step one in preparation for step not just Syria we will not stand by while leaders use those weapons outlawed by countries of the civilized world.  If they attack their own people what is stopping them from attacking Israel or the United States.  One type of action is inaction.  What I know is this is a horrible mess.  God Bless The United States and its leaders and military.

Neither Conservative Nor Liberal Not Even A Moderate

I am neither a liberal or conservative. Most would call me a moderate. However, when I think of these labels, none of the three hold a high extreme of accuracy in a description of my beliefs. Here is how I see. I am a man of issues. I look at each political issues as being unique within itself. I believe that no political party or politician has all the answers. I believe that some people have more integrity than others. I support those politicians that are open and honest about their positions. I believe a good politician is open to looking at issues with more than a party platform. These unique politicians are willing to cross party lines for the good of our nation. If all that counts is parties and platforms then we do not need humans to make decisions for our country. Computers could become the dispassionate decision maker. We would vote for the party of choice the computer would then do the rest. The current federal government is so polarized they have made less decisions than most in the history of our country. Lets take the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Congress has voted to repeal this so many times without success it makes them appear like Laurel and Hardy. What this congress lacks is insight and respect for change along with a good understanding of compromise. As for the issues look at each individually. Be honest with yourself. Ask a simple question do I feel this way because it is right for a majority of us or is it something I want because it is for me. Yes I have a stance on most issues. These are based on my view of the world. However, I am open to change and having my view expanded over the horizon of my personal beliefs. I want to have politicians that open my eyes and that open their own. I want to be convinced that a better way exists and that nothing is perfect. I want to believe no matter how good something is it can be improved.

I am a moderate and proud of it. I make up my own mind on political issues. I study the issues and read the legislation. If I vote and am disappointed, by my candidate or legislation i supported goes wrong, I accept the blame. I support and respect my leaders. That does not mean I agree with them. If you don't respect the man you can still respect the office he or she holds. I may make political jokes. However, I try to do no harm. I do not assume that because I support something it is the only way of approaching an issue. Before I same something about a stance on the Constitution, I know that I have done at minimum read the case law. Reread the portion of the Constitution that applies. I have read the Federalist papers and the Anti Federalist papers. However, with all that research I still do not assume my conclusion is right for all. You see like any human or group of humans I am subject . I try not to approach my views from a deeper understanding than emotion. Emotion is only a catalyst that makes me think. I wish more people would do their how work. Then again did they do it when they were in school? If they had maybe they their would be less anger and more pragmatic approaches.
